About

Karthikeyan was born on July 22, 1969 at Tiruchengode, Namakkal District, Tamil Nadu, India. He did his B.Sc. Chemistry at Bishop Heber College, Bharathidasan University, Trichy in 1989, pursued his M.Sc. degree in the year 1991 at Jamal Mohammed College, Bharathidasan University, Trichy and obtained Ph.D. (Chemistry) at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore in 2007. He has done his M.Tech. in Nanotechnology at Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore. His outstanding performance secured him First rank in M.Sc. degree. His research interest includes Synthesis of Carbon Nanotubes and its energy related applications, Preparation and characterization of meso/nano porous Activated Carbons and their Dyes Adsorption studies, Applications of Response Surface Methodology, Artificial Neutral Network in adsorption. He became Assistant Professor of Chemistry, at Erode Sengunthar Engineering College from 1994 to 2009. He is presently working as Associate Professor & Head of Chemistry department in Chikkanna Government Arts College, Tirupur, Tamil nadu State, India. Dr. S. Karthikeyan has held managing several activities like Secretary of Staff Club, and Coordinator for University Examinations at collegiate level since 1996. He has been actively associated with most of the organizing committees for extra curricular activities. Karthikeyan has established himself very well in academic field. His dynamism and continuous perseverance has yielded 60 research papers published/Presented in National and International Journals/Conferences.

He has traveled through out India and countries like USA, UK, Thailand , Malaysia, Singapore and Kwait. He is an associate editor of Journal of Environmental Nanotechnology, He is a Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Environmental Nanotechnology. He is a life member of ISTE (MISTE), Fellow member of International Congress of Chemistry and Environment (FICCE), Indian Association of Chemistry Teachers (FIACT), Swadeshi Science Movement of India (SSMD) and Indian Council of Chemists (FICC).

I follow learner – centered method in my teaching, considering the barriers, obstacles in the learning process; I follow suitable method to the slow learners and the gifted students

Apart from conducting regular tests (Seminars, Assignments, class practical model test, periodical model test) students’ observation are tested by getting their feedback regularly. I also ask the students to submit assignments and tot and seminars regularly.

g) Remedial Teaching / Student Counseling (Academic)

I take special care in finding out the slow-learners and students with some social and personal problems. After identifying such students, I give suitable counseling and guidance to overcome their problems relating to learning process. I also conduct special classes apart from regular classes with prior permission from the Head of the Department; I give them full freedom to approach me, to get rid off their academic problems.
